Fish Oil!

My doctor's office left a message on the house phone, to call back immediately. Umm, I thought. So I call back and the nurse says "now why did we call you?" To which I respond, "I have no clue." So she continues to look and shuffle papers and finally says "Have we talked to you about fish oil?" I am thinking fish oil, that was what was so important, FISH OIL!

It seems, as no surprise to me, that I have really low cholesterol. I have known about that for at least 20 years or so. Fish Oil! Well it seems that recent studies have found that persons with low cholesterol have a greater risk of cancer, other problems not excluding a death risk. So my low cholesterol might be a sign of an underlying problem. The Internet says in the event that there is no found trouble that it might be a result of High Stress or a chronic Low level infection. Me, high stress! As if!

Seems like I am always on the wrong end of things....
High blood sugar
Low cholesterol
High blood pressure in my kidneys
Low blood pressure to my extremities

To quote the Internet site, Ask the Doctor About Low Cholesterol, "Thus any lifestyle changes to lower your stress can also be helpful; remember, the stress hormones are all made from cholesterol. In most cases, we either find the source of the trouble or it resolves on its own given time, patience, and a diligent approach to improving our lifestyle."

So back to Fish Oil. It seems fish oil might help with cholesterol. There is only one problem, convincing my mind and my stomach to take it! So for now I am trying to not stress out about taking FISH OIL. As of this moment I haven't figured out a way for my brain to convince my hand to put it in my mouth and my mouth to swallow FISH OIL! Stressing out in Texas!

Have a good Labor Day Weekend!

We are at it again!

Awhile back after a minister left our Church, the Parsonage was in dire need of an update. We along with a host of others volunteered for the project. Due to every one's hard work it turned out wonderful!
But this awakened a sleeping giant! Slick set his heart on remodeling our house. I was gone one weekend and when I came home, they had started. Beginning at the front door to the north wall on our house. Trust me, HUGE project! We have not completed the job (but we will, one day)! In the mean time, we have completed others; Keisha's and TJ's house in Plainview and Corey's and Bailey's home here in town.

I don't have pictures of Corey's and Bailey's but I do of Keisha's and TJ's. This is the kitchen before....

and after ....
The living area before....

and after....
the dining area before....
and after .....
Well, Keely and Rhea decided that they would remodel their Kitchen/Dining/Breakfast rooms. I don't have pictures yet but tonight we are installing the new cabinetry! So when I do get pictures I will share them.

Remodeling is like childbirth... it is painful during but once it is over and you see the results, one forgets the pain!

Trees!

My mother gave me this Family Circus cartoon recently. Anyone who has ever taken our precious mutt, Captain on a potty break will relate to this! Captain feels adamantly that every tree is in need of his attention. That is fine when I have nothing else to do.

But when we are traveling and I let him go first, not a good thing at all. While I stand there willing myself to wait and doing whatever I can do, not to think about my personal dilemma, he is sniffing every tree. He doesn't care that one little drop out of my swollen bladder will release a tidal wave that will embarrass the heck out of me! No, onto the next tree. Oh wait! there was a blade of grass that needed a squirt too! Finally I will drag him back to the car and run like mad for the ladies room!

Captain has provided many other embarrassing moments for me. Once while I was filling the car with gas, Mother was taking him to potty. He runs and gets into the car of these two strange guys! They looked like they were traveling gypsies for the back seat was piled high with clothes, to which he promptly jumped up on and laid down! I had to drag his butt out, and did I mention, they did not speak English!

Another time, I was smuggling him into a hotel in a bag. Would he stay still in the bagl? No! Had to poke that head out! I was so busted! The girls were with me -- NOT helping, by laughing so hard to call even more attention to my crime!

I really do love him and take him with me most every where I go, but he has his days where he can be a p-i-t-a!

How hot is too Hot?

Yesterday was doctor day. Yes either grab a cold one and read my rambling or click out cause here it comes!

I had to go to the endocrinologist for a check. It is miserable in the waiting room. Luckily I am in and out in an hour. Ok, I thought not bad. So I go over to another doctor's office where I had left my Mother for her appointment. I left her at 2:00 pm. I get back and it the 3:45 and that waiting room is both full and HOT! Let me just cut to the chase.... We get out at 5:15 pm!

I realise doctors are busy, but come on, can't they try to run their practice at a minimum of an hour behind and not 3 hours! What do they do back there?

Why sweating it out, waiting and waiting, I notice several pretty people come in and go back to "the" back. I assume they are drug reps. They serve their purpose, I admit. But while they are buisness-ing (I know it is not good grammar but it fits!), I am waiting and waiting and waiting!

We need a retaliation for doctors who are known to be 2 hours plus late to see patients. What could we do? Make them wait ... where?

Maybe when they get to Heaven, Saint Peter will say "Have a seat and God will be right with you..." and they have to wait and wait and wait! Maybe even let ole Satan control the thermostat!

The No-You-Are-Not-Worth-Millions-Of-Dollars Tax Plan

Recently in a conversation it was said the down fall of Wall Street started with the unreasonable salaries of Pro-athletes and Actors/Actresses.

Whoa! "What" I asked.

The reply was, think about it. You have people working on Wall Street with degrees from the finest and most competitive Universities in America if not the world. And they were making 100K to 500K. Which to most of us sounds like a lot of money. But then compare that to an uneducated (maybe high school diploma) athlete making in the tens of millions at 18 years of age! "How would you feel," they asked me.

I have thought about this for months.

Lately the very rich have suffered hits to the riches. But do I see the Athletes and Actors/Actresses taking pay cuts or income cuts like the rest of the world? No! They still receive ungodly payments and unheard of perks for just showing up.

GM has cut sponsorship of the Buick Open and NASCAR, just to name a few events. But no need to worry about the golfing world. Someone has already stepped in to be the sponsor for next year.

However, Golf is one of the sports where the salaries are not-that-over-the-top ridiculous. And NASCAR, I don't know how much the driver gets to keep. But I do know about basketball, football and baseball. The salaries are not justifiable. Look there, Mr. President and tax those ungodly high salaries of those individuals earning in the tens of millions! Call it your No-You-Are-Not-Worth-Millions-Of-Dollars Tax plan!

I realise some of them do charity work and have foundations so don't get on me about that. But when I hear that Britany spent 32K for bras and panties in an afternoon of shopping! I cringe! When I hear of the amounts of money being wasted on drugs and alcohol because the athlete could not handle overnight wealth. Well cry me a river!

When will the recession reach the ridiculous high pay of those in the entertainment world?

And no, I do not support all the crooks on Wall Street either!

And they are gone in a flash!

Summer. Where did it go?

Last summer Keely was taking chemo and I wished for the days to hurry by so she would be thru and cancer free. This summer it seems like flew by leaving me wondering where it went. Seriously I can't remember June, what happened to June? And now August will be here in 10 days or so!

Help Someone, slow time down!

Why does life always have to be so hard?

You know I always long for the good ole days when things were simple and men were like John Wayne.

People these days are difficult. It seems the temperament is just getting shorter and shorter. Like we say in Sunday School, "people are like here I am, thrill me now." Except in our case 'here it is fix it now' and some problems are not that easy.

But I guess if Little House on the Prairie is a true picture of the good ole days, there was that Mrs Olsen and her daughter. They were always causing trouble and being demanding. So maybe the ole days were not as good as I picture! LOL!

Today I claim a good day for all. God will do unto us as we do unto others and I choose this day to live for Jesus Christ, my Savior!

Love to All!

Oh, I am so sorry that it has been a week since my last post. Just know that it has been crazy busy, for this household.
-

I got to spend some time with my grandchildren Saturday. Haskell Belle loves to race. She raced others and gave me the hi-five as she passed! It was too cute! Hudson had been sick the entire week. Keisha and Nannie took him to the doctor on Friday, a severe ear infection. So he stayed at Nannie and Granddad's throughout the weekend. They must have done an incredible job cause today he is all better! He and I sat in the floor after lunch and played! Spending time playing with Haskell and Hudson is what keeps me grounded and lets me know what is truly important!

-

Howard, Keisha and I went to Sunday services this morning. Pastor Dan Elliott preached on always sharing Jesus Christ. Reminded me of a story that Corey and Bailey told us before we went to church. At one time Billy Graham had found himself in a strange town, needing to find the post office. He stopped a young man and asked for directions to the post office. The young man told him and then Rev. Graham said something like come to the such-and-such place tonight and I'll be sharing directions to Heaven. The young man graciously declined at which Rev. Graham asked him why. The young man replied something like 'you can't even find the post office!' I am sure I have butchered that story but the point is, to always tell others about the love of Christ and let the Holy Spirit work on the conviction of the heart.
-
Tonight Howard and I went to Bible Study. Last week we were suppose to read Jonah over and over and over again. The one thing that I had never considered before was that Jonah while being upset about God forgiving the people of Nineveh, he never one time was thrilled that because of his actions 120,000 people were spared! He was so angry and concerned about being right that he missed the greatness of God!
-
I pray that I look for the Greatness of God in my not-so-happy-moments!
Have a good week!

Friday!
-
I am so looking forward to this weekend. We have no plans just some much needed and deserved rest. We have been so busy in both our personal and business life.
-
Yesterday, after I got back from taking Nannie to the doctor, a couple came in for a grille guard for her new pickup. She asked "do they come in other sizes?" Howard kinda looked at her like "Ugh?" So then I said "you are wanting a chick-grille guard." To which she exclaimed "Exactly!" Howard rolled his eyes! She and I laughed and her husband looked helplessly at Howard. After some more explaining by us girls to Howard he finally found what could be described as chick grille guard! Oh the difference in the way men and women look at things!

Friday list...
6. Spending time with my husband on Saturday afternoons!

Ok, Good news!
-
I found my drivers license! Yay! Just in the nick of time. It was in my purse behind the insurance card. Yes, I felt extremely stupid when I found it. So no lip service from the hubby!
-
And about the stains..... today my shirt has at least 5 circles of where my coke spilled on me! The lid came off; it wasn't my fault!

Just because you are doesn't mean I am!
  • A man just came into the shop. Standing not more than two feet from Howard, he is yelling but not in a tone that he meant actually to be yelling. We presume that he is hard of hearing and did not realise that just because he could not hear himself did not mean we couldn't hear him!
  • I always wonder and have asked several people what I will be when I am old? Will I be 'without a filter' like my kids say about the elderly? Will I be happy, sad, or mean? Will I be silly, depressed, recluse or shy? Since at every meal I drip food on my shirt I imagine I will be scooting around with stains! Let's just hope that it will be on my shirt and not on my behind!
  • Just the other day I drove up to the shop thinking 'WOW, I am old enough to join SCOT now.' SCOT stands for Sherman County Older Texans! Talking about random thoughts! Oh my!
So, when will I become 'Old' officially? Or am I already there?

It's Friday!
-
Howard is laughing and that makes me smile. Lately we have been working so hard it is unbelievable. I keep reminding myself that God does not put anything before that He knows we can't handle. I can do all things thru Christ, my Lord. God will sustain me. (That is my pep talk for today.) Just look at these little Jacks, they don't see the fence as high! They see something 'fun' in the challenge before them.

The other day I was listening to a radio program and someone said to claim the day as victorious in Jesus before you even put a foot on the floor. Think I just might start doing that. We have been having Bible Study with Eddie at 6 am. I am not the perky type at 6 am like Howard and Eddie but I know the Lord knows that (and forgives me for it) cause He made me that way!

My Friday list....

7. I try to schedule my work load to be lighter on Friday.
-
Be kind to one another and more importantly be kind to yourself!

Greetings! Isn't this a cute picture? I don't know who snapped this but they deserve all the credit for making me smile today!

This morning in our Bible Study we were reading in Luke 17:30-37. The narrative said that verse 36 was usually left out of most versions. You know me... that statement tempts my curiousity and I headed straight after my Bible that has multiple versions side by side. Sure enough no verse 36. The verse reads in the King James version "Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left." What is the big deal? The narrative says "It is not well enough attested to be original. Further, it is an assimilation to the parallel in Matt 24:40, which marks the addition as secondary. Omitting the verse number, a procedure also followed by a number of other modern translations." But then we got to looking at verse 34. Ooooh Woooo! If you go back to the King James versions that puts a tail spin on things. King James version says "I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left." The other versions say something like two people in one bed or two people in one room. Now doesn't that just stir up a hornet's nest!?!
There is room for all of us in Heaven and God forgives!

I don't usually pass emails on but this was just too funny!

SAYING GOODBYE TO MOTHER......

You don't have to own a cat to appreciate this one! You don't even have to like 'em! We were dressed and ready to go out for the New Years Eve Party. We turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on, covered our pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard. We phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived and we opened the front door to leave the house. The cat we put out in the back yard, scoots back into the front door. We didn't want the cat shut in the house because she always tries to eat the bird. My wife goes out to the taxi, while I went inside to get the cat. The cat runs upstairs, with me in hot pursuit. Waiting in the cab, my wife doesn't want the driver to know that the house will be empty for the night. So, she explains to the taxi driver that I will be out soon, 'He's just going upstairs to say Goodbye to my mother.'
A few minutes later, I get into the cab. 'Sorry I took so long,' I said, as we drove away. 'That stupid b**** was hiding under the bed. I had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off, so I grabbed her by the neck. Then, I had to wrap her in a blanket to keep her from scratching me. But it worked! I hauled her fat a$$ downstairs and threw her out into the back yard!
The cab driver hit a parked car.

On to the Friday list.....

8. We usually go see one of our grandchildren on Friday evening.

Sorry!
I have been so busy that I have not even had time to read any blogs nor post to mine.

God convicts me

I must admit that I was none too friendly to the lady needing help with her cargo (clothes in the ditches). My weird sense of humor found it funny later in the day but not at the moment. Anyway, the lady sent Corey a 'thank-you' note! It was so sweet and to pour more salt-in-the-wound, she is in a faith based business! Could I feel more guilty for the way I was thinking?! Yikes! I promise to be better!

State Inspections
Howard has to put State Inspections on vehicles, a job he dislikes! Monday, he had me to turn one down due to 'too busy'. Then I went walking down the hall and ran into a pretty young blonde. When I asked her if I could help her, she replied that she was getting her car inspected. I went back and asked Howard "Is that what it takes to get an inspection? Be a pretty little blonde?" His face was like a deer in the headlights! BUSTED! Later in the morning a rather large guy came in and asked about getting a sticker; we both looked at each other and started laughing! He put that one on and thru the week he has been putting on without griping!

Our house guest
My brother Eddie has moved in with us until his family gets moved in May. He is working for us in our new store in Guymon. Friday, I was giving him a hard time about the vaccum and the mop. Well for those who know him.... he has not even looked at the vaccum! We have been working him way too much. So there you go girls, over work the man and he lost interest in the vaccum! Gonna have to do something about that!

Have a good week and may God show us all the laughter and joy He has for us!

Re-hab continues.

They revolted on us last night!

They decided they wanted to sleep together! Cooper has always been a snuggle-bunny and Tiger wanted to be with him. Could have been cause she has been fixated on his food bowl, but lets just say it was to snuggle! So we moved their beds close to each other and they were settled in for the night! It was just pretty darn cute!

This morning everyone has been up and out; medicated and fed! They miss their mommies but they are doing just fine!

Okay on to my Friday list!

9. People attitudes are in a Friday-frame-of-mind. Everyone seems a bit happier and more relaxed. Kinda like Christmas but not exactly!

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Just call us doggie re-hab!
Tiger Lasley and Cooper Holland are staying with us. Tiger has recently suffered a stroke, (can't shut one of her eyes) so this time she can't play with her favorite friend in the whole world, Grason, and the other Jack Russells! Cooper hurt his back, temporarily paralyzing his back legs; he had to leave his adopted 'sis' Skylar (she lays on him though she is 4 times his size!). This morning after Howard had let them out to take care of business, I gave them their medications and their special dog food served with a little petting and a lot of sympathy!
We have them separated but yet they can see each other! Both seem to enjoy having their space while still being able to see the other one. Like they say 'misery loves company!'

Friday, January 23, 2009

It seems time just flies by!

Where does it go? It was a blah day around here; not much going on yet I did not get anything accomplished.

I think I'll start a 'Friday list' (each week I will add to it).

What I like most about Fridays.

10. Most Saturdays I have a morning with Captain (my dog, or commonly referred to as my 4th child). We sit.. no strike that .. we lay on the couch watching our 'shows', mostly HGTV and the Food network! I make no apologies for that either, keeps me from bodily harming people Sunday thru Friday!

So here is a picture that might make you laugh! Yall all know how much I love monkeys!

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Words. Just a simple little word can change the entire text of the conversation.

This morning a lady called and wanted the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) of the Crown Royal we had for sale. Ummm! I don't have VINs for my crown royal but it does come in a pretty bottle! So instead we gave her the VIN for the Crown Victoria (remember the Black and White Ford we have, thats it). I am going to go check that bottle of crown though!

We get all kinds of people in our dealership.
Today we had a vehicle breakdown. The man had left his wife. He packed up his Yukon, with his clothes, the dog and $250! She got the house and everything else! Where was he going? He did not know but that he was going!
Another lady stopped in it seems her cargo was blowing off her trailer as she was traveling. I guess we must have missed where it says we are 'Handy Dandy Packers!'
The guys are softies!
