What a day! Good thing I got up early! Yes, Leonda, I do get up early on Saturdays, lol!
We had lunch with most of the family, worked on VBS, baked and decorated Hudson's birthday cake, and finished organizing crafts for VBS! I have a full day for tomorrow with things that must be done.
The Lord knows my deadlines, it will get done.
I told Howard and a friend that I was too old to be doing VBS.
Strangely enough neither disagreed! Maybe it was because of all the moaning and groaning I was doing after crawling around on the floor working on a backdrop. Anyway, my friend said that once she was ranting about how no one would help do something or the other in Church, and the pastor at that time reminded her that there is a season for everything.
So is the season for VBS passed?
Talking to Keely this afternoon about VBS, she brought up some good points: 1) VBS is the same material as when she went, 2)the kids these days have changed, they are not as intrigued by the simple projects consisting of paper and glue, etc.
Surely this small town churches, are not the only churches struggling to find workers and attendees.
Mothers work, getting kids to VBS is hard. Then there is competition from baseball and other summer activites that are alot more inviting than VBS.
Do we give up?
A child hearing about Christ is the ultimate goal but.... where do we go from here?

I do think there are other ways to reach kids. Other ways that are far more relevant, but I'll have to do some research to figure out what they are.
